Frequently Asked Questions

To help you learn more about IMEDEEN BioMarine Complex and Antioxidant Dietary Supplements, we have provided answers to a list of frequently (and not so frequently) asked questions about IMEDEEN, its effects, and its suitability for different types of people.

General Questions

Formula & Ingredients

  • No. IMEDEEN tablets are not kosher.

  • IMEDEEN tablets do not contain a significant amount of fat and therefore would not contribute to weight gain.

  • Please see the box for a complete list of ingredients.

  • Grape seed extract is included in certain IMEDEEN formulas because the polyphenol compounds found in grape seeds are known to have antioxidant properties, which help decrease the amount of free radicals in water-based environments such as cell plasma.*

  • Yes. Lycopene is the pigment that gives tomatoes and watermelons their bright red color. Its molecular configuration makes it one of the best natural free radical scavengers. It plays an important role in defending lipophilic (fat-based) environments, such as the cell membranes, against damage by free radicals.*

  • An antioxidant helps defend cells, including the body’s skin cells, against oxidation. Found naturally in the body and skin, antioxidants are stable molecules from which free radicals can “steal” an extra electron to become neutralized. In this way, antioxidants help defend the skin against free radicals.

  • Fish oils are an energy source and building blocks for cell membranes while fish proteins are building blocks for various proteins including collagen, fibrillin, and elastin, which are important to the structure and density of the skin.*

    • Fish proteins are water soluble and can contain amino acids and peptides that can play a role in the formation (synthesis) of collagen and other supportive proteins, important for the structure and density of the skin*
    • Fish oils are soluble fatty acids. The long-chain fatty acids EPA and DHA are essential for all cells in the body including the skin. Their main function in the body is to build and support cell structure and membrane fluidity (flexibility)

  • The BioMarine Complex in all US tablets is a proprietary blend of fish proteins and polysaccharides that provide elements important for skin structure and moisture, similar to those naturally found in the skin's supporting tissue.* The ingredients in the BioMarine Complex are similar to the proteins found in the dermal layer of the skin – collagen and elastin. It has been studied on its own (in-vitro) and as part of IMEDEEN formulations in clinical studies.

  • The lycopene is extracted from red, ripe, specially grown tomatoes.

  • Polysaccharides are the sugar molecules that create the moisture binding, gel-like substance in the skin. These molecules can bind up to 1000 times their weight in moisture and are responsible for the skin's hydration.
